Company Background

Absolute Climate was founded in 2023 to create a new benchmark for evaluating climate claims. We are an independent standard and methodology developer that ensures every carbon removal credit and environmental attribute certificate represents real, defensible climate impacts.

We’ve separated standards development from the registry issuance process to eliminate a core conflict of interest that exists in much of the carbon market. Emissions assessment needs rigorous methodologies, not fragmented and perverse incentives that result in a race to the bottom. Project developers and buyers alike agree on the need for clarity, trust, accountability, and efficiency, and Absolute aims to deliver a carbon market with these traits.

Mission

Absolute Climate's mission is simple yet transformative: to ensure project claims match climate outcomes to support society’s path to net-zero and net-negative emissions. We believe that carbon removal credits and environmental attribute certificates must do more than look good on paper; they must contribute to meaningful, measurable progress in mitigating climate change.

We work toward this mission with a universal framework that brings consistency, transparency, and scientific rigor to the industry, giving every buyer confidence in the impact of their purchases and every project developer a clear path to demonstrating the true extent of their climate impacts.

Team

Our team is composed of dedicated, leading experts in carbon markets and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV). With multiple PhDs and backgrounds at the U.S. Department of Energy, Carbon180, EcoEngineers, Imperial College London, and Nori, we bring together deep expertise in sustainability science, policy, and boots-on-the-ground MRV.

We are committed to building a foundation of trust and accountability that the climate tech industry needs to scale responsibly.

The Absolute Climate Difference

Independent standards

Unlike traditional registries, we focus exclusively on defining and assessing carbon credit quality without issuing credits ourselves. This independence ensures that credit quality is never compromised by market pressures.

Science-based evaluation

Our standards are grounded in robust carbon cycle science and accounting principles, ensuring that every credit reflects real, measurable changes to the planet’s carbon balance.

Pathway consistency

With a universal standard applied across all climate technologies, we enable clear, apples-to-apples comparisons, helping project developers and buyers make informed decisions.

Transparency

We provide a transparent framework that allows buyers to invest confidently and project developers to clearly differentiate the quality of their projects. This approach builds trust across the ecosystem.
